You’ve got questions about coaching?
I’ve got answers.

At Uproar, we’re on a mission to support misfits as they shush their imposter inner voice, recover from perfectionism, heal from burnout, or embrace accountability without feeling bad when they lose track of their productivity SO THAT they uplevel their leadership, take on new roles/jobs, own their particular style and voice, accelerate their impact, strengthen or forge new working and personal relationships, reclaim their mojo and boost their confidence, reduce stress, or get things done that they’ve put on the shelf while in service to others.
This is really just a sampling of what’s brought people to Uproar. Your motivations for starting coaching and the outcomes you’re looking for are uniquely, dynamically, wonderfully your own.

Coaching (and coaches) support you in defining your goals to get you from where you are to where you want to be, and to ensure you arrive there as your most authentic self.
Coaching is a creative, vulnerable process based on powerful questions to help you build and explore the kind of life and lifestyle you want to lead. It can bring about transformation and change. It can make you a glitterbomb.
Coaching is not therapy. It’s also not consulting. Check out the next FAQ for more on this distinction.
-
Therapy: Well, I’m not going to diagnose you or cure you. Many people who come to coaching also have mental health support, which is really quite excellent. Coaching may put into external action the good work you’re doing to unleash your true self internally.
Consulting: I’m not going to try to fix your “business” or prescribe changes because, to me, you are your business and you are perfect as you are.
Mentoring: Mentors offer their skills and advice in order to help you develop, learn and grow based on their lived experiences and what was successful for them. Coaches provide you with the support you want to help you achieve your goals in a way that’s best suited to you.

Coaching models and methodologies are not one-size fits all.
I am not for everyone, and not everyone is for me, either.
Depending on your goal, I’ll adapt my style to your needs, possibly even between our sessions together.
My practice is built on empathy, compassionate accountability, tough love, and play. I approach our sessions through a humanist and trauma-informed lens— how do we support you to becoming your truest, most colorful self?
I believe in fierce conversations and powerful questions.
-
Nope, I’m not. Career coaches typically spend time supporting your job search, and providing resume and LinkedIn/job site content support. While I can do it, there are others who do it better. If that’s the type of support you’re looking for, send me an email at kari@uproarcoaching.com and I’ll happily send you some names of people I’d trust with my career.

Yes. Before we begin our formal coaching relationship, you’ll receive a coaching agreement that covers the details of the program. We’ll both sign this agreement before we kick off our coaching engagement.
-
That’s going to depend on the break. Your progress toward achieving your goal is driven by your commitment to coaching.
If you miss more than one of our sessions together without notice, I will terminate our coaching relationship.
Let’s take a look at your agreement to see what specific questions you have.
-
Our time together is one of exploration and transformation. You will drive our sessions and you have the answers within you to reach your goals, or I Want statements (as I call them).
Each coaching session will build on the last, all leading towards releasing your inner bad-ass and achieving what you want. You’ll likely have homework or thought exercises in between our conversations, to put your commitments into action and to work your goals.
We’ll track your progress and make adjustments along the way. It could be that the thing you wanted when we got started no longer amps you up as we really dig into it, or it no longer looks exactly the same what you imagined before we started coaching. That’s rad. We’re here for the journey, the play, the exploration, and the adventure.

Most coaching programs are delivered via Zoom or a good ol’ fashioned phone call.
Certain workshops or custom, client public speaking engagements may be delivered in-person or virtually, depending on your need.
My office is located in Alexandria, VA; a suburb of Washington, DC.

Great question! Hiring in a coach is an investment in yourself. The actual cost depends on the program.
I see clients for short-term and long-term coaching engagements. I also offer custom public speaking and workshops. Take a look at my site and let’s chat to discuss your needs and budget: https://www.uproarcoaching.com/executive-and-life-coaching-kari-ginsburg
